Welcome to Our Adventure
Hello and welcome to our foray into MX-5 racing. This is a blog written and dedicated to a man in his late twenties called Matt Neal (no relation to BTCC!) trying to take a car racing on a minimal budget. We hope the lessons learnt can impart some wisdom upon to others, or at the very least raise a smile or three along the way.
So, why the MX-5 post picture? Well, thats because the aim is to race in an MX5 single marque championship and attempt to be competitive. BRSCC, MAX5, or 5Club.
Matt has a decent amount of experience out on track and has attended 12 or so days in the past 5 years. Brands, Thruxton, Combe, Silverstone and Blyton Park have usually been the venues of choice, the car has also usually been an MX-5 – which is why the idea of racing in a MX-5 based championship seems so appealing.
So, after a few weeks of furious Googling, we found that the first step into competitive motorsport was a National B race license. To achieve that you need to take your ARDS test was is a part written part demonstration affair.
…. Better get on and book it then!
